The corporate structure
The administrative structure of the company has been object of many changes during its long life; from a merely private and familiar shape it passed step by step to a great company level, with the purpose of distributing a service awarded from port Authorities or ordered by the charterers.
Up to January 31 1995 the company has founded her administrative structure on the articles of association worded on June 29 1975. They dealt with an unlimited partnership (Italian Società in Nome Collettivo) having firm style "Rimorchiatori Napoletani S.M. di Armando de Domenico Presidente Pro-Tempore & C. S.n.c.".
With effect from February 1st 1995, carrying out the unanimous resolution made by the Partner’s Extraordinary General Meeting on December 17th 1994, the company changed its form to Limited Company, assuming the style "Rimorchiatori Napoletani SRL". The present work force of RN is composed of about 200 people (seamen and office staff).
In order to increase the competitiveness and efficiency of its action in fields different from the harbour towage RN constituted some specific company branches through the incorporation of two new operational companies: in 1996 PORTOSALVO Ltd (with registered office in London and operational offices c/o Gulf Offshore N.S. Ltd in Aberdeen) to which the RN has consigned the management of the activities relevant to the offshore market and in 1999 the Rimorchiatori Meridionali SRL whose main activities are assistance, salvage, coastal and deep-sea towage.
Along with its development process from an old-fashioned partnership to a modern financial and operational group of companies, with more than 160 shareholders, RN has been lead from 1977 and for more than 20 years by Armando de Domenico; following his sudden death in September 1998 his son Gianni Andrea de Domenico tuck over the chairmanship of a Board of Directors composed of 13 members, some of which directly involved into the technical and operational management of the various activities of the company.
